Learn Brass & Woodwinds in New Jersey

Learning Brass and Woodwinds is a breeze at Big Beat Music School!

Need a little extra help getting ready for your school band? Have you always wanted to learn how to play an instrument and realizing you do not want to put it off anymore?

Big Beat Music Studio’s instructors will help you reach your musical goals no matter what level you are, and if you need help, they can find the instrument that is right for you. Brass instrument lessons include trumpet, trombone, baritone, French horn, and the tuba. Our trumpet teachers recommend that trumpet students start at age 9 or older as they need to have developed a greater lung capacity. Because the tuba is a large instrument, keep in mind the student would need to be big enough to hold the instrument. Woodwind instrument lessons include all ranges of saxophone, clarinet, and flute. As with the trombone, we suggest that all saxophone and clarinet students are at least 8 years old to ensure their lung capacity is optimum.

Why choose Big Beat Music for your lessons?

No other music school offers what Big Beat Music Studio does! Joe Nevolo started Big Beat Music Studio in 1983 when his passion for teaching equaled his passion for performance.  Since then thousands of students have reached their musical goals and become part of the Big Beat family.  Joe and his music school were the focus of international interest when he created an innovative system of instructing students with learning disabilities.

What can I expect to learn from my lessons?

Depending on your level, lessons will include learning the fundamentals of brass or woodwinds, embouchure and how to produce a clean sound, fingerings and patterns, developing your range, ear training, and much more!

You will also learn how to read notation and theory, playing along with your favorite songs.

What if I do not have an instrument at home?

Not to worry, Big Beat Music Studio has a rental program that is very cost effective for most instruments.  Once you know which instrument is right for you, there is also the option to purchase the instrument you are renting with the rent to own special.

Will the students be doing any performances?

Yes, they do! Each year Big Beat Music Studio organizes a student showcase where they can walk the red carpet and perform on a professional stage. This exciting event gives the students a chance to show their family and friends what they have been working on. The student can also participate in other events held throughout the year.

What style of music will I be learning?

Our experienced instructors teach a wide variety of styles to fit your musical goals.  From rock to pop, jazz, country, classical or blues, teachers will get to know the student's interest and pick the song that is right for you!
