Guitar and Bass Lessons
Our guitar and bass teachers teach rock, blues, metal, country, and classical guitar/bass lessons on both acoustic and electric guitars. Beginner students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. We balance our lessons with fun by making sure that each lesson your are challenged with a new technical theory or concept, but are still having fun with your favorite song or riff. Music lessons for intermediate and advanced students are catered more towards their musical needs.
Piano Lessons
Our piano teachers teach a variety of music styles from classical to popular music. Our piano teachers will teach you sight reading, technique, and theory. You do not have to invest in a high end baby grand piano at home to take piano lessons. Even a modestly priced full size electric keyboard will do the trick. Our piano teachers are passionate about piano and enjoy sharing this passion with their students.
Drum Lessons
Big Beat was started by Music Director Joe Nevolo who is recognized both locally and nationally as a talented and gifted drummer and performer. Prior to Big Beat’s inception, Joe began to build up a following of drum students across the state of New Jersey. Our drum studio in our Neptune NJ location is professional and loaded with drum kits with plenty of space to move around in. Beginner students do not have to purchase a full drum kit to take drum lessons. A $25.00 drum pad and drum sticks will suffice. Joe is one of our most requested drum instructors so space is limited, we also have other professional drum instructors for your drum lesson needs.
Voice Lessons
Big Beat’s voice lessons focus on popular music. Whether you have always wanted to be a rock, country, jazz, gospel, or R&B singer, we have the vocal teachers for you. Voice students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, vibrato, breath control, enunciation, tone production and more. Each of our voice students work with their teacher to set goals and work on developing their own unique voice.
Brass and Woodwinds Lessons
Brass lessons include private trumpet lessons, French horn lessons, trombone lessons, baritone lessons and tuba lessons. Our trumpet teachers recommend that students for these instruments usually start at ages 9 or older as they need to have developed a greater lung capacity. Flute Lessons - Our private flute lessons generally start at age 7 and older. Our teachers have university or college degrees in woodwinds. Saxophone & Clarinet Lessons - Our private saxophone lessons and clarinet lessons start from age 8. Earlier than age 8, a student typically does not have the lung capacity and strength to handle these instruments.
String Lessons
Our string instructors will teach all styles of music, from learning to play by ear to reading music. If you want to play classical music or the fiddle, we have a teacher for you. Students can be as young as 5 years old, or younger with the teacher's approval. Our students love learning the fundamentals, as well as incorporating your favorite songs into their lessons. Our violin teachers have friendly personalities and love working with children and teens and adults!
