Big Beat Music School has been serving Monmouth and Ocean County, New Jersey communities since 1983. Director, Joe Nevolo was performing in local and national bands and received recognition for his phenomenal drumming, which led to a large following of students around the state. After teaching drum lessons since 13 years old and performing as a young adult he decided to follow his dreams of being a full-time drum instructor by teaching all and any students eager to learn music.
Big Beat started small specifically as a drum studio and blossomed into a full fledged music school offering every type of instruction from vocals, guitar/bass, violin, brass/woodwinds, piano to its famous drum lessons. The more Joe saw his impact on students, their ambition, talent and their musical education the more he strived to build the business bigger.
Big Beat’s main focus has always been teaching. If students are not involved in our private instruction we always offer rental instruments for students in school band along with supplying merchandise in our shop.
Our goal at Big Beat Studio Music School is to help you reach your ultimate musical objective through the use of high-tech equipment and innovative instructional techniques. Our curriculum provides an opportunity to participate in special practice incentive programs, musical games, awards and recitals.
Big Beat Music helps students to develop their musical talents without limits in whatever direction they wish. We offer music lessons for all ranges of of skill and experience, and can custom tailor lessons to you or your child’s needs.

Our lesson rooms are fully stocked with everything you need including, amps, drum kits, pianos, and more. All students have to do is bring their instrument and come prepared to learn. Our professional studio makes the perfect setting for quality music lessons.

Each year our students have the opportunity to perform and showcase their musical talents in our annual showcase. Our showcase is beloved by parents and students alike!

Big Beat Studio Music School is centrally located in Neptune City NJ, our school is convenient to all areas of Monmouth and Ocean County NJ. We also offer at home lessons for those students who don’t have the ability to get out to Big Beat.

What an awesome place, my son was going to another music studio and wasn't into learning the guitar so I decided to try a different place, and let me say I am so happy that I did, My son goes to lessons every week without any problems he absolutely loves his guitar teacher Dave, he walks out of his lesson laughing and smiling.
What a great place, The minute I walked in the first time I was treated like i was part of the family, the feeling of warmth when I am there and they are VERY accommodating. The whole staff is AMAZING, I also love the uniqueness of the studio itself all the different decor. Your child will definitely soar at this studio, my son learned more in 3 weeks than he did in 3 months at the other place, Im just sorry i didn't find Big Beat Studio sooner.

“I can’t say enough about Big Beat Music studios and their teachers. When all other studios said my 1 1/2 year old was too young to teach, they gave him a shot. His skill is beyond his age and Joe is helping him flourish.
I didn’t realize just how famous Joe was until a few weeks into lessons either so to have a teacher who really knows what he’s doing is a major inspiration for my son. Jerry also has been great with my son as well teaching him guitar. He is super patient and understanding of his limits as a toddler. We will be picking up lessons again with him when my son has a bit more attention span to allow someone to teach him beyond what he wants to do. =) I have to brag a little about Paul as well since he is an old friend who I have had the privilege to hear play piano for many years and he is a great teacher.
